How to Free Yourself

9.22.25

Hi, my loves, let's talk. Society can make us feel so trapped. Here are some tips to make you feel free and better at any age and at any time.

1. Stop Caring.

I know so often we hear people tell us not caring is better but so often we find ourselves wondering, how? How can one not care? I know personally I feel so deeply. As a college student, and the daughter who grew up angry and feeling trapped in her mind. I feel everything so deeply. The small glances, the microaggressions, everything. Everything my friends, family, and strangers do I used to feel so deeply. It wasn't until I stopped reeling over how others perceived me that I actually started living.

It is the most freeing experience to wear what you want, do what you want, and to feel how you want. Remember, you are entitled to your feelings, you're entitled to this experience you have on earth because this is the only one you get. Don't waste it living it for others. When you're old, you don't want to still be questioning who you are, you want to know. You want to feel who you are and have it written deep in your bones.

2. Travel Alone.

Travelling doesn't have to be far and wide. It can be local. It can be a five-minute walk to the cafe. Sit alone, do hobbies alone, walk alone. Do it in silence if you can. Sit with your thoughts so you don't feel confined by them and like you're trying to bang and escape out your thoughts every time you end up alone with them. Eventually, when it comes feasible, go to vacations alone. Remember, safety first especially as women, but if it makes sense and is safe do it. Go alone and make experiences that aren't connected to relationships and people. Experience yourself, experience how you feel and how you act. Know yourself. Breathe new air you haven't breathed before and don't share those breaths with other people.

3. Romanticize Everything.

I know, I know, you're probably tired of hearing people say it. I was too, until I really understood what this meant. For me, this means listening to songs that sound like coming to age soundtracks or like they belong on my favorite shows while walking on campus with a coffee in hand. Or even writing this blog documenting my thoughts. Or organizing my Pinterest and smiling at the little things and all the blessings life has to give. I want you to find what your definition of romanticizing life is. Is it doing hobbies while the sun sets? Is it pretending you're a main character in a show and talking to yourself affirming your day will be great? Whatever it is find it and stick with it. I swear this will make you so liberated.

That's all for this week my loves, I hope you all have a great week and whatever you do, be you. Live in today because tomorrow's not coming back for you.
