I Want Nine Lives: A Reflection
In celebration of college acceptances coming out soon, I wanted to share the personal essay I applied to schools with. Personally, I love this essay because it was a personal testament to who I am. So, here I am, a year later sharing my work. Enjoy: There’s an English proverb that goes, “A cat has nine lives. For three he plays, for three he strays, and for the last three he stays.” I’ve only recently realized that I want nine lives, I want to be alive nine times over. Not in a spiritual way, but in the sense that I won't be satisfied being one person forever. As a child, my mom always captioned her Instagram posts of me, “Jack of all trades”. And for the first time I realized how fitting that nickname truly was. On September 12, 2024, I was in a meeting with my therapist.
